My One Day Turned Into a Week

Neil and I have a rule that if one of us is sick we get one day of being coddled by the other and the rest we just need to deal. It sounds harsh I know, but this is a 2 man operation we are running here. Everything falls to pieces when just one person has to do all the work. So...we get one day. Usually it is enough. For me... this week...my one day turned into a week.
I don't know how it happened or where it came from but last Sunday, my stomach decided it was going to turn into knots. I thought it was indigestion at first however, no matter how many Tums or Pepcid I took, it would not go away. Through the week this went on and on. I would think I was better one day only by noon to be curled up in agony. I tried to hide it mostly from my students but I was pretty much a canidate for the worst teacher of the week. I took a day off in hopes of kicking it but to no avail. Finally, Thursday I didn't think I was going to make it through the day. So I went to the doctor. Really 4 days for the flu it a little much. The NP confirmed it was the flu and gave me these magic pills to get rid of the stomach cramps. Friday I stayed home to try and rest up only to have the dreaded stomach pain return again in the evening. I thought it was never going to end.
Needless to say that I had NO energy everyday. I was hardly eating and what I did eat found a way to come back out...quickly. It was all I could do to stay awake on the couch and direct the girls to different indoor activities not far from the couch. Then Neil...poor Neil...would come home from his long day at work, with no dinner cooked, no house clean, and handed the girls to feed, bathe and get in bed. He did it...everynight...for a week. No complaints...no sighs and he took care of me for more than just my one allotted day. But that is Neil, he does whatever needs to be done.
Now that I am feeling better, finally, I look around and there is a lot to catch up on. Laundry piled up (that is nothing new), toys scattered everywhere, dishes to do...I never thought one flu could knock me off my feet. It is going to take a little work to get it all back together. But with us as a team...we can do anything. What a lucky girl I am! Thanks Neil for tolerating much more than just one day.
